Earlier this year we learned that many Canadians are recycling wrong and that we are throwing too much garbage in our recycling. The Town of Taber’s Public Works department will be giving us some tips and tricks on how to get the most out of our blue and green bins, while explaining how Taber's recycling program works.

Support the Food Bank and pay down your fines at the same time! From opening on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 to closing on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 Taber Public Library will be accepting commercially packaged, unexpired non-perishable and non-food items from the Taber Food Bank Society’s “Most Needed Items” list. Each item brought to the library is worth $2.00 off your library late fines. It’s a good deal for you, the community, and the library!

Research has shown that children who attend Read to a Dog programs can experience a decrease in stress over reading aloud in class. Starting Friday, September 21 kids can build confidence reading out loud by signing up for a 15 minute, one-on-one session with Daisy! Space is limited - please pre-register at the front desk.

Sep 22    American Graffiti Night
"START YOUR ENGINES!" You are invited to an American Graffiti night! Bring your cars, a lawnchair and some buddies and come hang out for the evening. The road will be blocked off for cars. Car show starts at 6:00pm and at 8:30pm we'll be showing the all time classic "American Graffiti" starring Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfus, and Ron Howard on the outdoor screen. The event is free though there will be a BBQ Fundraiser for our Youth group as well as concession available for your convenience.

Sep 27    Western Irrigation District and Irrigation in Southern Alberta: Past Present and Future
This presentation will review the crucial role of irrigation in shaping the landscape of Southern Alberta in social and environmental as well as physical dimensions. The presentation will place a particular focus on the Western Irrigation District and the significant ways in which it has formed and continues to shape the communities in which it provides service. David McAllister serves as the General Manager of the Western Irrigation District in Strathmore. David is a professional engineer with a background and education in environmental engineering, hydrology, infrastructure and organizational management. David appreciates the opportunity to live and work in the rural community that the District serves. Broadcast from Marigold Library System Headquarters.
